Description
The FP-SPR1 is a single-channel SPDIF repeater and amplifier designed to restore and convert digital audio signals. It accepts conventional SPDIF connector types and regenerates low-level inputs to correct output amplitude. The module is optimized for broadcast and pro audio chains where reliable SPDIF levels are required.
The unit provides three separate inputs and three outputs in conventional SPDIF formats – BNC, phono and optical – allowing flexible connector conversion. A coaxial input has priority over the optical input so source selection is deterministic. A front-panel SIGNAL LED indicates when an input of sufficient amplitude is present to produce the correct output.
Performance includes output coaxial level of 500 mV p-p and an input range of 100 mV to 2.5 V p-p on coaxial inputs. Frequency response covers 28 kHz to 48 kHz, and jitter is under 200 pS with input levels of 200 mV p-p or greater and under 1 nS at 100 mV p-p. The module reshapes SPDIF waveforms to deliver virtually jitter-free outputs for downstream converters and processors.
Connectivity includes 75 Ohm BNC and phono coaxial I/O plus an optical I/O, permitting mixed-format interconnection without external adapters. Power may be supplied via a full-size barrier block or a DC power jack; a second DC jack allows daisy-chaining FLAT-PAK modules. The unit supports ground-referenced 24 Vdc at 80 mA and may operate from 12 Vdc in standalone installations.
The FP-SPR1 suits a range of practical applications including broadcast signal recovery, studio patching between optical and coaxial domains, and restoring SPDIF levels after long cable runs. It is suitable where low jitter and clean digital timing are required for AES/EBU conversion and digital processing. The module is compact for equipment racks and integrates easily into existing audio infrastructures.
Installation is straightforward with barrier block or DC jack power connections and standard SPDIF connectors for audio I/O.
