Description
The FP-BUC2 is a two-channel active balanced-to-unbalanced audio converter designed to translate professional balanced signals into consumer-level unbalanced outputs. It uses transformerless circuitry to preserve clarity while providing low noise and low distortion. The unit is supplied in RDL FLAT-PAK format to fit into compact rack or shelf installations.
Each channel features a gold-contact XLR balanced input and a gold-plated phono output with a dedicated level trim control. The converter delivers adjustable gain of +/-6 dB relative to -10 dBV output and supports input levels from -2 dBu to +10 dBu. Its low crosstalk and high headroom maintain channel integrity in stereo or dual-mono configurations.
Performance specifications include a frequency response of 10 Hz to 40 kHz +/-0.1 dB, THD+N below 0.005 percent, IMD below 0.005 percent, and headroom greater than 18 dB at rated output. Noise is specified below -90 dB referred to -10 dBV with a typical A-weighted value of -95 dB. The unit provides greater than 50 dB common-mode rejection across the audio band and crosstalk better than -90 dB.
Connectivity is straightforward with two balanced XLR inputs and two unbalanced phono outputs. Output impedance is 75 O and the outputs can drive typical 600 O or 10 kO unbalanced lines. The FP-BUC2 requires a ground-referenced 24 Vdc power supply consuming approximately 50 mA.
The FP-BUC2 is well suited to broadcast patch bays, studio racks, live sound systems and AV installations where conversion from balanced pro-level signals to unbalanced consumer-level equipment is required. Its low-profile housing and FLAT-PAK form factor make it convenient to mount in tight spaces or equipment shelves. The per-channel level trim simplifies level matching to downstream devices.
Installation is simple with captive XLR and phono connections and a compact footprint that minimizes rack space. Gold plated contacts and a rugged enclosure provide long-term reliability in professional environments. The unit operates in ambient temperatures from 0 C to 55 C and is designed for continuous operation in AV systems.
