The FIDO-T-ST is a compact 1-channel fiber transmitter that converts 3G/HD/SD-SDI to single-mode ST fiber for long-distance signal transport. It provides electrical isolation to help eliminate ground loop issues and supports cable runs up to 10 km 32808 ft. The enclosure is low-profile and designed for tight spaces around racks, cameras, and mobile units.
Key features include a single 3G-SDI input, a looping SDI output, and a simplex ST fiber output. The unit supports SMPTE-259/292/424 and SMPTE-297 standards and auto-selects common SDI rates for reclocking. A universal 5-20VDC power supply is included and the converter consumes up to 2 watts of power.
Optical performance is specified at a nominal wavelength of 1310 nm with optical power ranging from -8dBm to -3dBm and an extinction ratio of 9dB typical. Reclocking is applied to 270 Mbps, 1.483 Gbps, 1.485 Gbps, 2.966 Gbps, and 2.970 Gbps rates while other rates are passed through. The device weighs 0.5 lb and measures 4.6″ x 1.71″ x 0.85″ for easy integration into compact systems.
Connectivity includes a BNC 3G-SDI input, a BNC SDI loop output, and a single-mode ST fiber output connector. The unit supports standard SDI formats and is compatible with common fiber patching and splice practices. A locking DC power connector reduces accidental disconnects and optional P-TAP power cables can be used for battery operation.
Typical applications include broadcast signal transport, OB vans, remote camera feeds, and studio-to-transmitter links where electrical isolation and long distance are required. The FIDO-T-ST is suitable for signal extension over single-mode fiber where low latency and signal integrity are critical. Its small size allows placement directly behind displays or mounted near signal sources.
