The FIDO-T-SC-R0 is a compact 1-channel 3G-SDI to single-mode SC fiber transmitter designed to extend SDI signals over long distances with electrical isolation. It converts SDI to optical fiber for runs up to 10 km (32808 ft) while maintaining signal integrity. The unit’s small form factor allows placement behind monitors, in racks, or on camera rigs.
The transmitter provides a looping SDI output so the original SDI signal can be distributed locally while the optical output carries the signal to remote locations. It supports 3G/HD/SD-SDI formats and automatic reclocking for common SDI rates to ensure stable video delivery. The device uses a universal 5-20 VDC power input and includes a universal power supply for immediate deployment.
Technically the FIDO-T-SC-R0 handles video formats from 150 Mbps up to 3 Gbps in a format-agnostic manner and complies with SMPTE-259/292/424 for SDI interfaces. The single-mode SC fiber output follows SMPTE-297 with a nominal wavelength of 1310 nm and optical power ranging from -5 dBm to 0 dBm. Reclocking is automatic for 270 Mbps, 1.483 Gbps, 1.485 Gbps, 2.966 Gbps and 2.970 Gbps while other rates are passed through.
Connectivity includes a single 3G-SDI BNC input, a looping SDI BNC output and a simplex single-mode SC fiber output using an SC connector. Power is supplied via a locking DC connector accepted by the included universal power supply and optional P-TAP cable support allows battery operation. The universal supply includes international plug attachments for global use.
Typical use cases include broadcast facility signal extension, OB truck fiber feeds, and camera-to-control-room links where ground isolation and long distance are required. The optical isolation helps eliminate ground loop issues and reduces interference over long cable runs. Its compact size makes it practical for tight spaces in racks and on-location production environments.
Installation is straightforward with simple BNC and SC terminations and a locking power connector to prevent accidental disconnection. The unit is specified for operation between 0 and 40 C and stores safely from -40 to 60 C, supporting humidities from 10-90% noncondensing.
