The FiDO-T-12G-ST is a compact single-channel transmitter that converts 12G/3G/HD/SD-SDI signals to single-mode ST fiber for long cable runs. It provides a simple, reliable link for sending uncompressed SDI video up to 10 km over standard single-mode fiber. The unit is designed for use in live events, mobile production, and studio workflows where secure fiber connectivity is required.
The transmitter accepts a 12G-SDI input and supports formats from 270 Mbps up to 12 Gbps, covering SMPTE 259/292/424/2081/2082. A reclocked BNC loop output provides a local feed while the ST fiber output delivers the optical transmit signal. The device uses a locking ST connector to prevent accidental disconnects – useful in high-motion or crowded installations.
Performance is optimized for professional video transport with nominal transmit wavelength centered near 1310 nm and optical power engineered for long-distance single-mode runs. Supported data rates that are reclocked include common SDI rates up to 12G, and other rates are passed through unchanged. Power consumption is low at 2 watts maximum and the included universal DWP-U-R1 power supply accepts global voltages.
Connectivity includes one 12G-SDI BNC input, a reclocked 12G-SDI loop BNC output, and one single-mode ST fiber output compliant with SMPTE fibre standards. The transmitter supports SMPTE formats for interoperability with a wide range of cameras, routers, and converters. A locked DC power connector and optional P-TAP accessory power option enable secure power in field setups.
Typical applications include camera-to-flypack links, long-distance feed to a production truck, or remote edit suite video transport where a single cable must carry high-bandwidth video. The compact low-profile enclosure fits behind monitors, on camera rigs, or in tight rack spaces. The locking ST connector and rugged build make it suitable for repeatable install and teardown environments.
