Description
The FiDO-4R is a 4-channel single-mode LC fiber to 3G-SDI receiver designed to extend SDI video over long distances with electrical isolation. It converts single-mode LC fiber inputs to four independent 3G/HD/SD-SDI BNC outputs and supports runs up to 10 km. The compact low-profile enclosure is sized for tight rack locations, camera mounts, and mobile production rigs.
Key features include four independent 3G/HD/SD-SDI outputs, support for 4 simplex or 2 duplex LC connections, and automatic reclocking for common SDI rates. The unit accepts video rates from 150 Mbps up to 3 Gbps and can be used as part of a multi-fiber 4K/UltraHD-SDI link when channels are combined. A universal power supply that accepts 5-20 VDC is included for flexible power options.
Technical performance covers a nominal optical wavelength range of 1260 to 1620 nm with optical sensitivity down to -18 dBm and overload tolerance to -3 dBm. Reclocking is automatic for 270 Mbps, 1.483 Gbps, 1.485 Gbps, 2.966 Gbps, and 2.970 Gbps rates while other rates are passed through. The device consumes up to 5 watts and operates reliably between 0 and 40 C.
Connectivity consists of four LC single-mode fiber inputs conforming to SMPTE-297 and four 3G-SDI BNC outputs conforming to SMPTE-259/292/424. The locking power connector prevents accidental disconnection and the unit is compatible with optional P-TAP battery power for field use. The FiDO-4R also provides electrical isolation to help eliminate ground loop issues in distributed systems.
Typical applications include OB trucks, broadcast backhaul, live event production, and studio-to-transmitter links where long-distance SDI transmission is required. It can be used in camera chains, remote enclosures, and fiber I/O panels to bridge fiber infrastructure and SDI equipment. The small footprint and lightweight design allow integration into confined system racks and camera rigs.
