The EZ-MCP1X is an inline microphone compressor designed to maintain steady mic output levels when input volume changes significantly. Installed between a microphone and a mic level mixer or amplifier input, it helps deliver clearer and more controlled sound. This makes it a practical choice anywhere speech consistency and overload protection are important.
This unit provides fast automatic level control with an exceptional 30 dB control range. It reduces overloads that can lead to distortion and clipping, while improving intelligibility in spoken word applications. A front panel setup trimmer and LED indicator make threshold adjustment straightforward during normal speech.
The compressor accepts nominal mic level signals from -60 to -30 dBu and supports up to 0 dBu maximum input at minimum gain. Frequency response is 50 Hz to 20 kHz within plus or minus 0.5 dB, and THD+N is below 0.5 percent at compressor threshold. Output is adjustable from -55 dBu to -30 dBu, with a normal setting of -45 dBu, and balanced output impedance is 150 ohms nominal.
XLR input and output connectors support simple integration into professional microphone signal chains. The unit works with both dynamic and condenser microphones, and it automatically switches 24 V phantom power when phantom is detected at the module output. Gold plated connector contacts support dependable signal transfer in installed audio systems.
The EZ-MCP1X is well suited to recording, paging, and public address systems where speech levels can vary from one talker to another. It is commonly deployed in houses of worship, restaurants, clubs, meeting rooms, classrooms, conference rooms, and commercial sound systems. By keeping microphone levels more consistent, it can help reduce the need for constant gain correction at the mixer.
