The EZ-HSX4 is a compact stereo audio source selector and headphone amplifier designed to manage up to four unbalanced stereo sources and provide selectable line-level output and headphone monitoring. It combines a front-panel level control with rear-panel RCA connectivity to simplify source selection and monitoring in small systems. The unit’s solid-state switching preserves audio integrity during transitions and minimizes mechanical wear.
Key features include four stereo inputs on dual RCA jacks, a switchable line output that can be set to fixed unity gain or variable output that follows the front-panel level control, and dual headphone jacks in 1/4″ and mini formats. Full-size interlocking pushbuttons provide clear tactile feedback and prevent accidental disengagement. The headphone output delivers usable drive for monitoring while maintaining low distortion and noise.
Technical performance supports a broad audio bandwidth and low distortion. Inputs present greater than 10 kOhm impedance with a nominal level of -10 dBV and maximum +10 dBV. Line output specifications include fixed output up to +10 dBV and variable output up to +17 dBV. Frequency response is specified at 10 Hz to 20 kHz and THD+N is under 0.03% on the line output and under 0.1% on the headphone output under specified loads.
Connectivity is straightforward with all inputs and the line output on rear-panel RCA jacks and two headphone outputs on front-panel 1/4″ TRS and mini jacks. The headphone amplifier is rated at 35 mW into a 100 ohm load and the unit exhibits better than -70 dB crosstalk at 1 kHz. Noise performance is specified as below -100 dB for low headphone outputs and below -95 dB for the fixed output under specified conditions.
Typical applications include retail audio zoning, houses of worship, broadcast studios, sound booths and home audio systems where compact source selection and headphone monitoring are required. The unit is suitable as a small multi-source headphone amp and as a source selector feeding a downstream power amplifier or mixer. Its silent solid-state switching maintains signal quality during program changes.
Installation is simple thanks to the 1/3 rack width footprint and compact case dimensions of 5.75″ W x 5″ D.
