Description
The EXT-3G-HD-C is an SDI to HDMI converter designed to bridge broadcast SDI sources and HDMI displays or downstream equipment. It accepts 3G-SDI, single-link HD-SDI and SD-SDI inputs and outputs HDMI or DVI compatible signals up to 1080p60. The unit supports multichannel LPCM audio and preserves up to 10-bit color depth for professional image fidelity.
Key features include support for 3G-SDI Levels A and B, selectable HDMI (YCbCr 4:4:4) or DVI (RGB 4:4:4) output modes, and up to LPCM 7.1 audio extraction. The converter supports input pixel clocks to 150 MHz and TMDS clocks to 225 MHz enabling reliable Full HD operation. DIP switch configuration and a mini USB port for Gefen Syner-G firmware updates provide field configurability and maintenance access.
Technical performance is targeted at Full HD workflows with input and output resolutions up to 1080p60 and support for 10-bit color on both input and output. The device consumes up to 2W and operates from a wide DC range (6V to 24V nominal 12V). Environmental ratings specify operation between 0 and 50 degrees C and storage from -20 to +85 degrees C, with an MTBF of 50,000 hours.
Connectivity is straightforward: a single BNC SDI input, an HDMI Type A locking output, and a USB Mini-B port for firmware and management. Status LEDs indicate power (blue) and active HDMI sink (green). The unit accepts a locking 3-pin DC input and ships ready for integration into camera rigs or fixed installations.
The EXT-3G-HD-C is suited to live production, broadcast monitoring, field acquisition, and mobile A/V installations. Typical applications include converting camera SDI outputs for HDMI monitors, feeding HDMI-based capture devices from SDI sources, and integrating SDI cameras into HDMI-based playback systems. Its compact size and mounting options make it appropriate for both studio racks and on-camera use.
Installation is simplified by a compact enclosure that includes an industry-standard 1/4-20 mounting thread and a detachable surface mounting bracket. The lightweight chassis can be secured with Velcro or bracket mounting and the locking power connector prevents accidental disconnection. Firmware updates via Gefen Syner-G and DIP switch options allow in-field adjustments and long-term maintainability.
