The EXA-100-EARC is an audio-only eARC extender designed to transport high-fidelity audio over UTP cabling up to 330ft/100m. It preserves advanced audio formats including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X while maintaining audio/video sync when used alongside an existing video path. The unit is aimed at home theater and distributed audio systems that require long-distance, loss-minimized audio transmission.
Key features include support for eARC/ARC and S/PDIF audio paths, manual DIP switch selection between audio paths, and bi-directional control signal pass-through for IR, RS-232 and HDMI CEC. The extender supports uncompressed PCM up to 7.1 and object-based audio formats when using eARC mode. A plug-and-play design together with included control pass-through simplifies system integration.
Audio format support covers PCM 2.0 through PCM 7.1, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS, DTS HD, DTS HD Master Audio and DTS:X depending on eARC/ARC/S/PDIF mode. The product is powered by a DC 5V 1A supply and has a measured maximum power consumption of 3.582W. Environmental tolerances include an operating range of 0 to +45°C and storage range of -20 to +70°C with standard ESD protection ratings.
Connectivity includes HDMI 19-pin Type A ports, UTP inputs/outputs for the extender link, S/PDIF input, IR input/output and detachable terminal block connectors for RS-232. HDMI CEC signals are passed through bi-directionally to allow remote control across the link. The hardware DIP switch allows audio-path selection without software changes, ensuring consistent behavior in a range of system topologies.
Typical applications include extending high-resolution audio from a source in a media hub to remote AV receivers or sound processors, distributing multi-channel audio across multiple rooms, and retrofitting legacy installations that require modern object-based audio formats. It is suitable for residential theaters, light commercial AV spaces and dedicated listening rooms where long cable runs are required.
