The DS-TPS6A is a passive single-pair audio transmitter designed to send line-level audio over RDL Format-A twisted-pair cabling. It accepts consumer stereo sources on dual RCA phono jacks and combines them to a mono feed for distribution. The unit provides galvanic isolation via a studio-quality transformer to maintain audio integrity and prevent ground loops.
Key features include switch-selectable assignment to Format-A pairs A, B or C and signal plus power pass-through between the RJ45 TP CABLE jacks. The front-panel RCA inputs accept -10 dBV nominal sources and handle up to +22 dBu maximum input level. The passive circuitry requires no local power and preserves signal quality across the transmission pair.
Performance is optimized for audio applications with a measured frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (±0.5 dB) and very low distortion figures. THD is specified at less than 0.1% from 50 Hz to 20 kHz and typically less than 0.001% at 1 kHz. These characteristics make the DS-TPS6A suitable for both broadcast and installed audio where clean, uncolored transmission is required.
Connectivity is straightforward: dual RCA inputs on the front panel and two RJ45 TP CABLE jacks on the rear for Format-A twisted-pair connections. A rear-panel switch selects which cable pair the module feeds, and multiple single-pair or two-pair senders can be daisychained on the TP CABLE jack. If power is present on a connected cable the unit passes that power along to downstream modules.
Typical applications include sending consumer line-level sources into professional twisted-pair audio infrastructures, feeding program audio to remote distribution points, and integrating consumer playback devices into studio or installed sound systems. The compact stainless package and transformer isolation make it appropriate for patch racks, control rooms, and field carts. It is useful wherever a passive, low-noise method of converting RCA outputs to Format-A twisted-pair is needed.
