Description
The DS-RLC3 is a wall-mount remote level controller designed to interface with RDL control modules that accept a 0 to 10 Vdc resistive control input. It provides four momentary pushbuttons that select preset audio levels and a green LED that indicates the active level. The unit is finished with a stainless-steel remote panel intended for professional installations.
The controller offers four selectable system levels – HIGH, NORM, LOW and MIN – with HIGH fixed at maximum gain and the remaining three levels adjustable by the installer. Each adjustable level is set using concealed trimpots located on the sides of the DS-RLC3 body to prevent user access after installation. The installer can configure NORM, LOW and MIN across the specified attenuation ranges to meet site requirements.
Technically, the DS-RLC3 provides a selectable resistive output to ground in four discrete steps, compatible with RDL VCAs that use a 10 kOhm resistive control center and 0-10 Vdc control input. The HIGH position corresponds to 10 kOhm and 0 dB. NORM is adjustable from -3 dB to -30 dB, LOW from -5 dB to -40 dB and MIN from -10 dB to Off. The unit operates in ambient temperatures from 0 C to 50 C.
Connectivity is via a detachable terminal block for straightforward wiring to RDL VCAs such as the ST-VCA3, RU-VCA2A and RU-VA6A. The DS-RLC3 is ground-referenced and runs from a 24 Vdc supply, sharing power with the controlled VCA when wired in a typical installation. The remote panel includes a green LED to indicate level selection and hides the adjustment trimpots from end users.
Typical applications include fixed-installation audio systems where simple preset level selection is required – for example background music zones, paging systems and classrooms. The discreet stainless-steel aesthetic suits commercial, retail and institutional environments where a professional look is required. Installers can preconfigure levels to meet local sound policies and prevent user adjustment beyond the intended presets.
Installation is simple and designed for standard US electrical boxes, including compatibility with RDL WB and SMB series boxes and available cover plates.
