The DB-TPS8A is a Format-A two-pair audio transmitter designed to distribute stereo consumer-level audio over RDL Format-A twisted pair cabling. It accepts a front-panel stereo Mini jack input and routes buffered left and right signals onto two cable pairs for remote reception. The module is intended for in-wall or enclosure mounting where discreet distributed audio is required.
Key features include a -10 dBV stereo Mini jack front input, a rear RJ45 Format-A input for chaining, and studio-quality preamplification with 12 dB gain. The module drives two Format-A pairs (B for left and C for right) and accepts signal and power passed from a preceding single-pair sender on pair A. Remote powering is supported through the RJ45 connection so no local power supply is required at the module location.
The DB-TPS8A delivers wideband performance – 20 Hz to 50 kHz (±0.5 dB) – and low distortion: THD+N is under 0.1% across the full band and under 0.01% at 1 kHz. Noise performance is specified below -85 dB referenced to +4 dBu and remains below -75 dB even with up to ten TPS8A modules connected. Headroom exceeds 20 dB above +4 dBu to preserve transient dynamics.
Connectivity is flexible: a front-panel Mini jack handles consumer sources such as computers and personal media players while the rear RJ45 accepts Format-A inputs and provides signal/power pass-through. Multiple TPS8A units may be chained so each local Mini jack remains active while upstream senders feed additional locations. The product uses standard RJ45 wiring and is compatible with other Format-A senders, distributors, and RDL power inserters.
Typical applications include distributed audio for hotel rooms, guest rooms, fitness centers, or retail environments where concealed installations are required. The module is suitable for integration into wall boxes or standard U.S. electrical boxes and can be combined with single-pair senders to expand system topology. There are no illuminated indicators, eliminating potential distractions in dark environments.
Installation is straightforward – the compact panel mounts in RDL WB-1U or WB-2U wall boxes or standard electrical boxes and uses remote power via the twisted pair cabling. The DB-TPS8A’s black front-panel laminate coordinates with Decora-style controls and provides a low-profile, tamper-resistant appearance. Overall construction and studio-quality active circuitry ensure reliable long-term performance in commercial installations.
