Description
The DB-NVC2 is a networked volume control designed for Dante and AES67 audio systems. It provides digital attenuation for one or two network audio channels and presents status on a full-color 240 x 240 pixel LCD. The unit is PoE powered for simplified installation and mounts in a standard US electrical box.
The control uses a rotary encoder with mechanical detents and programmable acceleration to change level quickly or precisely. Attenuation is applied in 1 dB steps from 0 to 63 dB and includes a mute function via a momentary knob push with screen indication. Installer-configurable menu options allow adjustment of output Channel A, Channel B, or both simultaneously and can enable stereo-to-mono summing using RDL CONSOLE.
Performance supports selectable Dante sample rates of 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz and operates on a 100 Mbps Ethernet link. Network connectivity is via an RJ45 connector with link and speed LEDs plus a front-panel power indicator. The DB-NVC2 is field-upgradable and presents clear numeric and graphical feedback of applied attenuation on its display.
Connectivity and compatibility include Dante/AES67 network pass-through and control integration with RDL devices. The unit can be remotely controlled by RDL D-NMC1R or D-NLC1R remote controls and is configurable using RDL CONSOLE for channel naming and default behavior. Display color themes and installer passcode locks are also set via CONSOLE to suit site requirements.
Typical applications include zone volume control for amplifiers, source level adjustment in distributed audio systems, and local control in presentation or hospitality environments. Multiple remote controls can share control of the same zone – network bandwidth typically supports up to four remote controls per zone. The DB-NVC2 routes network audio through itself, enabling centralized level control of routed signals.
Installation is straightforward – the control mounts in a standard US electrical box and is PoE powered to avoid additional wiring. Installer options include inactivity locks, passcode protection, display dimming after inactivity, and customizable knob acceleration. The unit is available in stainless steel, black, and white finishes to match decor and is designed for reliable long-term operation.
