The DB-NLC1R is a networked rotary volume control that provides local volume adjustment and muting for distributed audio systems. It uses a rotary encoder and an LED ring to display relative attenuation and offers precise level control in compact wall-mounted form. The unit is PoE powered for simplified installation and requires only a single RJ45 network connection.
Key features include a mechanical-detent rotary encoder, a circular LED string level display, and attenuation in 1 dB steps from 0 to 64 dB. The knob supports momentary push for mute/unmute and the rotation behavior includes programmable acceleration for fast level changes. Multiple NLC1R remotes can control the same device or group and will track level and mute state across the network.
Performance attributes include a 100 Mbps network transmission rate and PoE Class 0 power delivery compliant with IEEE 802.3af. The unit reports and displays audio attenuation levels received from compatible network audio devices and sends level commands to network endpoints that adjust audio levels. The operating ambient range is 0 C to 50 C and the product is field-upgradable to receive firmware updates.
Connectivity is via an RJ45 connector with Ethernet link and speed LEDs and a front panel LED array showing level. The NLC1R is compatible with RDL D-RN and DD-RN devices and with Dante-enabled equipment from RDL and other manufacturers. Network bandwidth typically supports up to four remote controls per zone depending on system design.
Typical applications include distributed paging and background music zones, local volume control points in conference or lecture rooms, and auxiliary volume controls in multiroom audio systems. The compact form factor mounts in a standard US electrical box and adapts to typical wall-plate aesthetics. Available finishes include black, white, and stainless steel to match common decor.
Installation is straightforward using RDL CONSOLE for configuration and assignment to network endpoints. The unit dims its display after 30 seconds of inactivity to conserve energy and returns to full intensity on knob activity.
