The CM1164A is a 4-port USB DVI multi-view KVM switcher designed for real-time monitoring and centralized control. It displays up to four video sources on a single screen and supports cascading to present up to 16 sources simultaneously. The unit provides independent keyboard and mouse control for each selected source to streamline operator workflows.
Core multi-view modes include Quad View, Picture in Picture (PiP), Picture by Picture (PbP), Picture on Picture (PoP) and Full Screen – users can resize and reposition PiP or PbP windows. Boundless Switching lets operators change focus simply by moving the mouse across on-screen windows and the unit supports front-panel, OSD and IR remote control. Daisy Chain Control (DCC) enables control of up to three additional CM1164A units from a single console.
Performance-wise the CM1164A supports single-link DVI-D video up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz and provides console USB 2.0 hub functionality. The device includes Video DynaSync technology to eliminate boot-up display issues and optimize resolution when switching sources. Scan intervals, auto-scan and power-on detection improve monitoring reliability in continuous-operation environments.
Connectivity includes 2 USB Type A console ports, a single-link DVI-D console connector, multiple 3.5mm audio jacks for 2.1 channel audio, two RJ-45 ports and four sets of computer-side USB Type B and DVI-D connectors. The switch supports RS-232 commands, IR remote operation and on-screen control via drop-down menus. Console keyboard and mouse emulation / bypass ensure compatibility with most multimedia keyboards and multifunction mice.
The CM1164A is suited to mission-critical monitoring applications such as air traffic control, financial trading desks and medical monitoring stations where multiple video feeds must be observed simultaneously. Its multi-view modes and rapid switching reduce operator latency when locating and controlling sources. Multilingual keyboard mapping supports English, French, Japanese and German layouts for international deployments.
Installation and operation are straightforward – the chassis is metal for durable use in control rooms and rack environments and the front-panel interface provides quick access to display modes and port selection. The device supports cascading two levels for up to 16 sources and offers comprehensive control options including RS-232 and IR.
