The Kramer CLS-AOCU32/AC-98 is a long-reach hybrid USB 3.2 Gen-2 cable that connects USB-A hosts to USB-C devices. It supports SuperSpeed Plus data rates up to 10 Gbps and is engineered for reliable data transfer across extended distances. This cable is designed specifically for data only and does not support charging or Alt Mode signals.
Key features include hybrid fiber and copper construction for low-loss long-distance transmission and USB 3.2 Gen-2 throughput up to 10 Gbps. The cable is plug-and-play and does not require additional drivers, and it draws power from the host USB source which simplifies deployment. It is backward compatible with USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and USB 1.1 (USB 1.1 limited to shorter runs as noted).
Technically, the CLS-AOCU32/AC-98 uses a 2-channel OM2 850 nm VCSEL array for the optical portion and bare copper conductors where required. The listed maximum data rate is 10 Gbps and the cable construction delivers defined mechanical performance including bending radius and tensile and crush resistance. Consumption is specified at 0.5 W or less to remain host-powered during operation.
Connectivity is provided by a USB 3.2 Type-A male on one end and a USB 3.2 Type-C male on the other end. The cable is compatible with USB cameras, webcams, printers, speakerphones, and other USB peripherals that require high-speed data only. Remote devices that require power should be self-powered to ensure reliable operation.
Typical applications include AV installations requiring long USB runs, conference room AV systems, streaming camera connections, and studio setups that need stable high-speed data paths. The 98ft length enables placement of devices well beyond typical copper-only USB limits while preserving SuperSpeed performance. Its hybrid design reduces signal loss compared with pure copper over similar lengths.
Installation is straightforward – plug-and-play connectivity and USB bus power eliminate the need for external power or drivers in most setups.
