The CI70X is a 7in three-way in-wall speaker engineered to reproduce music and movie soundtracks with precision. It combines a dedicated woofer, midrange, and pivoting tweeter to cover bass, midrange, and high frequencies across a broad bandwidth. The grille features a low-profile micro-flange design that can be painted to match room decor.
The speaker uses a 7in woven glass fiber woofer with NBR surround, a 1.5in synthetic soft dome midrange, and a 1in pivoting woven synthetic soft dome tweeter derived from Phase Technology’s Premier Collection. Its three-way Absolute Phase crossover maintains coherent phase response across the band to improve imaging and clarity. Patented QuikMount clamping levers simplify installation and replacement in standard rectangular cutouts.
Measured frequency response is 35 Hz – 22 kHz (+/- 3 dB) with a sensitivity of 92 dB at 1W/1M and a nominal impedance of 8 Ohm. Recommended amplifier power ranges from 10 to 150 W taking advantage of the speaker’s 3-way topology for clean dynamics and low distortion. The design balances low-frequency extension with midrange detail and controlled high-frequency dispersion.
The CI70X presents standard speaker connections compatible with most residential and professional amplifiers and receivers due to its 8 Ohm nominal load. The pivoting tweeter allows directional adjustment to optimize high-frequency delivery to the listening area. The paintable white powder-coated galvanized steel micro-flange grille keeps a discreet visual profile while providing durable coverage for the drivers.
Common installations include in-wall left/right channels in home theaters, multichannel surround installations, and whole-house distributed audio where clean on-wall visibility is not desired. It is suitable for retrofit projects and new construction when paired with the available pre-construction bracket RB-23. The speaker’s sensitivity and power handling make it appropriate for both low-level background music and dynamic program material.
Installation is straightforward thanks to the QuikMount clamping lever system and shallow mounting depth. The grille is paintable and the pivoting tweeter simplifies aiming during final system setup. Build quality uses woven glass fiber and synthetic dome materials to provide long-term reliability and consistent acoustic performance.
