The CA-AK1-C conversion adapter enables use of an existing XLR mic adapter on Canon cameras equipped with a multi-accessory shoe. It bridges legacy CA-XLR2d series microphone adapters to Canon’s digital shoe connection and provides a cable-free digital audio link. Technically, the adapter accepts a CA-XLR2d series mic adapter and passes power and digital audio signals through the multi-accessory shoe. Certain Canon models impose a maximum phantom current limitation rated at 9mA. There is a brief 4 second mute when switching between camera power and an external battery box, and overload indicators (OL) are not supported on some cameras.
Connectivity is straightforward – the adapter attaches to the Canon multi-accessory shoe and mates to the CA-XLR2d mic adapter to provide XLR microphone connectivity. It is compatible with CA-XLR2d-AN and CA-XLR2d-F variants when used with the adapter. Supported Canon models include EOS R3, EOS R5 C, EOS R7, EOS R10 and XF605 with model-specific limitations documented by Canon and Tascam.
