With an ultracompact size, the Videohub Mini 8×4 12G Router from Blackmagic Design is the ultimate device for live production flexibility. The mini router features eight 12G-SDI inputs, eight 12G-SDI loop outputs, and four 12G-SDI outputs on its back panel in a small footprint. Control over the I/O ports can be achieved using the front push buttons, knob, or via Ethernet connection to automate functions. The front panel of the router also features a 12G-SDI input, a 12G-SDI output, and a USB-C output that overrides the functions of the back panel ports for when you need to route new sources on the fly. The USB-C output registers on your device as a webcam and lets you live stream directly from your computer. Dedicated reference I/O ports allow the clean switch function to lock to a Blackburst or Tri-sync signal.Streamlines Cable Connections
The Videohub Mini router is designed to add extra inputs to SDI broadcast equipment without taking up significant rack space. You can add extra inputs to ATEM switchers or add input selection to streaming encoders and HyperDeck recorders. You can also use it to add extra inputs to video monitors. Routers allow you to make changes without patching cables during a job. Front panel SDI connections let you quickly connect gear in emergencies without rewiring your rack.
Front Panel Router Control & Video Patching
The front panel design enables fast cut-bus-style switching with dedicated buttons for inputs and outputs. Select a destination, then a source to route signals instantly. The front panel also includes 12G-SDI connections for patching external gear, and the input overrides the highest rear input when connected. A USB webcam output allows connection to a computer for recording, scopes, or streaming.
Advanced 12G-SDI Connections
All models feature multirate 12G-SDI connections supporting SD, HD, and UHD up to 2160p60. Compatible with SD-SDI, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI, and 12G-SDI equipment, the router can handle mixed formats simultaneously. A single BNC connection supports high frame rate UHD while remaining backward compatible with HD gear, automatically adjusting output standards.
Clean Switch on Each Video Output
The clean switch function ensures smooth transitions between sources and is applied per output rather than input. This allows flexibility—for example, recording without frame changes while maintaining seamless switching for monitoring or streaming. The feature locks sources to the reference input.
Full SDI Re-Clocking
Built-in SDI re-clocking regenerates signals on every 12G-SDI input to maintain quality and prevent errors. This is critical for long cable runs, as signal degradation increases with length. Re-clocking improves jitter performance, enabling longer cables and eliminating dropouts.
Front Panel Emergency Patch Connections
Front panel 12G-SDI patch connectors provide easy access without reaching behind racks. This reduces the risk of disconnecting critical cables and allows quick integration of additional equipment. The front input overrides the highest rear input, and the 8×4 model includes a front output mirroring the highest output.
USB Webcam Output
The USB-C port functions as an HD webcam source, enabling direct streaming. Software recognizes it as a standard webcam while delivering SDI video. UHD sources are downconverted to HD. Compatible with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, OBS, XSplit, and more.
Remote or Hardware Control
Control the router via Master Control Pro panels or Videohub Software. Customize button functions and integrate automation using the included software development kit.
Redundant Power Supply
Power can be supplied via built-in AC input or 12 VDC, allowing flexible operation with standard wall outlets or DC sources.
