Description
The BCLS-31 is a CAT6A U/UTP bulk cable designed for structured network cabling and Ethernet installations. It is supplied on a fumigated wooden reel in a 500m length and supports bandwidth up to 650MHz. The cable uses four pairs of 23AWG solid bare copper conductors and an LSZH jacket for reduced smoke and halogen emissions.
Key features include a cross filler and internal rip cord for reliable pair separation and easy termination. The unique zigzag jacket design improves performance in six-around-one bundle transmission and the round smooth jacket avoids twisted stripes for easier handling. The cable meets characteristic impedance and coupling attenuation criteria to support 10GbE and legacy Ethernet speeds.
Electrical and mechanical specifications include a conductor DC resistance of less than or equal to 9.38 ohm per 100m and characteristic impedance of 100 +/-15 ohm across 1 to 100MHz. The cable passes spark testing at 2.5kV DC, dielectric strength of 1.5kV AC for 2 seconds, and an insulation resistance of at least 5000 MOhm per meter. Mutual capacitance and capacitance unbalance are specified to maintain signal integrity over horizontal runs.
Connectivity and compatibility are native to U/UTP installations and the cable supports IEEE 802.3af (PoE) and IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) power delivery. The polyolefin insulation and four color-coded pair sets (blue/white, orange/white, green/white, brown/white) simplify pair identification during termination. The 23AWG solid conductors are optimized for RJ45 termination and in-wall and backbone deployment.
Typical use cases include horizontal structured cabling, building backbone distribution, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet links in commercial and institutional environments. The LSZH jacket makes the cable suitable for use in areas where reduced smoke and corrosive gas emissions are required during a fire. It is also appropriate for mixed legacy and modern Ethernet deployments where higher bandwidth headroom is desired.
Installation is straightforward thanks to the internal rip cord and consistent jacket dimensions that allow predictable bending and pulling behavior. The cable has a minimum bending radius of four times the overall diameter and a maximum pulling tension of 110N to prevent damage during installation.
