The Kramer UNIKat CAT6A U/FTP cable is a unified high-bandwidth twisted-pair cable designed for video and LAN signal transmission. It carries four individually screened twisted pairs over a single unshielded jacket and supports DGKat technology, HDBaseT signals and standard Ethernet applications. The cable is supplied on a 500m (1640ft) spool with a blue LSHF jacket.
This cable features 23AWG solid copper conductors cabled into four shielded pairs with Alu/PET per-pair screening and a 90% tinned copper drain wire. The skin/foam/skin HDPE insulation and controlled pair geometry provide consistent impedance and propagation characteristics. An LSHF blue jacket reduces smoke and halogen emissions for safer indoor installations.
Electrical performance is governed to CAT6A parameters with nominal 100 ohm impedance across specified frequency ranges and propagation velocity around 76 percent. Mutual pair capacitance and pair-to-ground capacitance are controlled to support high-frequency data and video transmission. Maximum conductor DC resistance, pair resistance unbalance and dielectric strength are specified to ensure reliable long-run performance.
Connectivity and compatibility include standard RJ-45 termination for 23AWG solid conductors using compatible larger-diameter RJ-45 plugs and termination hardware. The cable supports LAN networks and advanced AV link protocols such as Kramer DGKat and HDBaseT over copper. The LSHF jacket and TIA/EIA color coding simplify identification and compliance in structured cabling systems.
Typical use cases include long-length AV signal distribution, LAN backbone runs, and HDBaseT video extension in commercial installations. The cable is intended for installation in environments requiring reduced halogen emissions and controlled smoke density. It is suitable for professional AV, broadcast and IT installations where consistent high-frequency performance is required.
Installation is straightforward with a maximum pulling tension of 100N and recommended bending radii of 60mm during installation and 50mm once installed. The cable is rated for storage and installation temperatures from 0 degC to 50 degC and for operation from -20 degC to 60 degC.
