The AdderView CATx 4000 is a compact CATx KVM switcher designed to provide simultaneous access for up to four local and remote users to 24 multi-platform computers. It delivers USB console support, keyboard remapping and full KVM switching of video, USB and optional audio. The unit is intended for server room and desktop environments requiring multi-user control and secure profile management.
The system supports up to 24 user profiles with configurable access rights and allows four simultaneous users to control connected hosts. Key features include DDC emulation for reliable video, true multi-platform keyboard and mouse emulation for PS/2, USB and Sun systems, and flash-upgradeable Computer Access Modules (CAMs). Cascade capability expands the system to support up to 256 computers using CATx cabling.
Video performance supports resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 at 60Hz and includes DDC emulation when CAMs are connected. Optional stereo audio is supported at 44.1kHz via audio-enabled CAMs. Standard KVM transmission distance is up to 50m (165ft) over CATx and the integrated CATx extender supports operation to 300m using ADDERLink X200 or X100 receivers.
Connectivity includes RJ45 computer ports, a local console with HDD15 video, USB Type-A keyboard/mouse ports and a 3.5mm stereo jack for audio. Computer-side connections support HDD15 video and choice of USB, PS/2 or Sun MiniDin8 for keyboard/mouse. Control and power functions are available via DB9 serial ports and optional network connectivity is provided on IP variants via a 10/100Mb auto-sensing RJ45 port.
Typical applications include server room administration, multi-platform lab environments and control stations where multiple operators require concurrent access. The switcher is also suitable for environments that need secure user profile control, remote reboot via RS232 power switching and expanded cascaded topologies. It supports a range of OS platforms including Windows, Linux, Unix, BSD, Sun OS and Mac OS.
Installation is rack-friendly at 1U height and uses CAT5e or CAT6 cabling for standard connections. The device supports flash upgrades, syncing with other CATx switches and upload/download of user and host configurations to streamline deployment and maintenance. The chassis and feature set are engineered for continuous operation in 0 to 40ºC environments, providing predictable integration into professional AV and IT racks.
