The 3KAVE2RH HDb3000 Component/VGA Media Module is an HD encoder and QAM/DVB modulator blade designed to ingest Component or VGA video plus analog or digital audio and produce MPEG-2 based RF outputs up to 1080p. This module installs in the HDb3000 chassis and interfaces to the system via Hydra cabling. It supports closed captions via composite input for broadcast-grade captioning workflows.
The module provides two DIN inputs that accept Component video with digital and analog audio or VGA video with analog audio. It supports MPEG-2 encoding and QAM or DVB-T/DVB-C RF output formats including 256 QAM and 64 QAM. The unit also provides a delay match analog audio output for alignment with analog audio sources and includes ZvShow for channel display control.
Performance specifications include frequency agile QAM RF CATV coverage from 54 MHz to 864 MHz and CCIR channel support across defined bands. RF output level is adjustable from 13 dBmV to 34 dBmV in 1 dB steps and typical MER exceeds 39 dB. Frequency control provides 2 kHz resolution with +/- 30 PPM accuracy and +/- 35 PPM stability to meet broadcast timing requirements.
Configuration and management are handled via ZeeVee Maestro and a 10/100 Mb Ethernet RJ45 network interface. The module displays the IP address on front and rear LCD screens and supports DHCP or static IP addressing. Browser-based configuration and firmware update capabilities simplify deployment and maintenance in managed networks.
Typical applications include hotel TV distribution, campus and corporate video distribution, and managed IPTV headend deployments where Component or VGA sources must be presented as QAM or DVB channels. The blade format allows dense channel counts within the HDb3000 chassis and supports channel lineup flexibility across regions. The unit is not compatible with DirecTV H26K satellite receivers.
Installation requires an HDb3000 chassis and Hydra cables, which are sold separately, and the chassis provides front-access, N+1 redundant cooling fans, power and rack mounting. The module shares the chassis 100 to 240 V AC power infrastructure and benefits from the chassis 5 year warranty and hot-swappable fan design. The compact 3 RU blade simplifies rack integration and field servicing.
