Description
The 106 is a compact 1×2 microphone line and distribution amplifier designed to accept a single balanced mono microphone input and deliver two balanced line-level outputs. The unit supports both dynamic and condenser microphones and provides selectable mic input configurations to match source requirements. It is built in the Kramer TOOLS form factor for flexible mounting and easy integration into audio systems.
Key features include a mic input selector for condenser or dynamic microphones and switchable 48V phantom power for condenser mic operation. Users get independent LINE OUT trimmers and a master trimmer for precise level control across both outputs. The 106 also offers a high signal-to-noise ratio to preserve mic signal integrity during distribution.
Technical performance includes a maximum output level of 27Vpp (22dBu) and bandwidth greater than 40kHz to support full audio frequency range with minimal loss. The measured S/N ratio is 81dB and THD plus noise is specified at 0.18% with second harmonic at 0.16%. The unit is powered by a 12V DC supply drawing 132mA.
Connectivity is straightforward with one balanced mono microphone input on a 3-pin terminal block and two balanced mono line outputs on 3-pin terminal blocks. Control interfaces include a mic type selector pushbutton, individual line out trimmers and a master gain trimmer for system-level adjustment. The input is AC coupled while the outputs are DC coupled to suit downstream equipment.
The 106 is suitable for conference rooms, lecture halls and small broadcast or recording setups where a single mic feed must be split to two destinations with gain control and phantom power. It works well to feed mixers, recorders or additional processors without degrading signal quality. Rack mounting is available using the optional RK-3T 19in adapter to fit three units in 1U of rack space.
Installation is simple and fast owing to the terminal block connectors and clear front-panel controls – installation does not require advanced configuration. The compact metal enclosure measures 12cm x 7.5cm x 2.5cm and includes a power supply and mounting bracket for desktop or bracket mounting. Overall the 106 provides a practical, technically sound solution for distributing a single microphone signal to two line-level destinations while retaining control over gain and phantom power.
